Andrea and I went to the DogBark condo in Panama City Beach this weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. Can you believe it’s been a year already?

These bugs were everywhere. Apparently it’s mating season for, well, whatever they are. Unfortunately, that kept us off the balcony from around 10AM until around 6PM.

It’s amazing to us how much God has taught us in the last year. We’ve learned a ton about God’s provision – how it rarely looks like we want it to look, how it almost always comes in a form that humbles us and serves to remind us of who He is. We’ve learned a lot about communication – and we know that we have many more years to keep learning. Thanks to several generous friends out there who loaned vehicles to us, we have been able to save to purchase one car for cash, and are on the way to a second. We’ve gone through nearly a year of wondering how bills were going to get paid to struggling to understand how to honor God in a season of plenty.

The weekend – well, 5 days – was so relaxing. We haven’t taken a trip without agenda since my birthday/New Years, and after having the stress of readjusting to Andrea working full time during September, it was much-needed.

Enjoy the sunsets/random photos. Praise God for His mercies over the past year!

Those bugs look a lot like the ones we ran into (car was covered!) in East TX several years ago. We thought we would never get them washed off the car.

We call them ‘love bugs.’ They’re a Florida delicacy. They swarm at certain times of the year but are always attached to each other (hence the name). I’ve heard rumors that they are the result of a botched attempt by the University of Florida to control the mosquito population. At any rate, they are as Florida as hanging chads and luxury retirement communities. And Harriet is right; they are a pain to get off the car.
